Making a great first impressionIt is often said that the first impression, though not necessarily the best impression, is the longest lasting impression. It is hard to deny this simple fact when it is considered against real life scenarios. Therefore, it is important for each and every job seeker to present himself properly in front of the recruiter to brighten up employment prospects. However, creating a great impression depends on a large number of factors including the candidate’s attire, body language and communication skill. Therefore, whenever going for an interview it is better to prepare properly to be at par with the corporate culture.

Appearance plays the most important role in the creation of a great impression and so it is better to dress in a way that would underscore the candidate’s professional approach. It is better to dress in formals whenever going for an interview and the dress should be clean and well pressed. Shabby or fashionable informal dresses generally tend to annoy recruiters thus making it harder for candidates to make a good impact.

As far as body language is concerned, candidates should always be confident enough in order to make the desired impact on interviewers. However, it does not mean that they have to be overconfident and try to tread beyond their territory. If they are confident it will show in their body language automatically and they do not have to go take resort to acting.

Maintaining a certain physical distance with the interviewer is preferable and the standard procedure is to sit at least two feet away from the recruiters. More proximity would only help interfere with the personal space of the interviewer which may not go well with all. It is to be kept in mind that in an interview each and everything that the interviewee says and does would be watched carefully and conclusions would be drawn from them.
